Polk Middle’s Project UNIFY holds color run

The Project UNIFY club at Polk County Middle School recently helped celebrate a special group of students and the approaching end of school by hosting a color run on the school track.

Students and staff were given the opportunity to participate during their exploratory classes. Those that did not participate cheered from the stands. The purpose of the color run is to raise awareness and promote respect for people with intellectual disabilities.

Project UNIFY is a student-led organization at PCMS that brings youth with and without disabilities together through education and sports. Through Project UNIFY, young people with and without intellectual disabilities join for activities, sports and friendship with the goal of creating communities of acceptance and respect.
