Polk County Middle School’s Nature Navigators recently enjoyed time hiking in Norman Wilder Forest, located on the slopes of Little Warrior Mountain near Tryon.
Twelve PCMS students joined Pam Torlina, of Conserving Carolina, on the hike. Students were able to touch salamanders, smell spicebush and see trilliums and fiddleheads unfolding.
Norman Wilder Forest is a 185-acre protected forest composed of mature third-growth mixed hardwoods managed by Conserving Carolina.
