Polk County’s junior varsity softball team scored early and often last week Friday.
The Wolverines scored multiple runs in every inning en route to a 17-1 five-inning rout of Mitchell in Western Highlands Conference play at Polk.
The offensive standouts for Polk were many, but no one had a better day than Amy Chupp, who finished 4-for-4 with six RBIs. Three of those runs came on her home run over the left-field fence in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jessie Emory finished 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs, with Kaylin Jenkins going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Emily Prince finished 2-for-4, and Anna Hodge was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolverines, who finished the game with 15 hits.
Hodge earned the win for Polk County, who hosted Mountain Heritage on Tuesday.
