COLUMBUS – In spite of all the snow days, the Polk County Schools’ calendar is in good shape, said Polk County Schools Technology and Accountability Director Dave Scherping.
During Monday’s board of education meeting, members approved the district’s calendar for the 2017–2018 school year.
The calendar includes 180 days of school for all but Saluda Elementary, which will have 179 days, Scherping said. Scherping added that the one day was due to snow causing a delayed start.
The board also adopted the first reading of state policy updates, and adopted a budget amendment that included the acceptance of federal funds. Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene explained that the system had simply received some anticipated funds, including bonuses received by teachers and additional federal revenues.
