COLUMBUS-A benefit for long-time Columbus Food Lion employee Steve Raines will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11 at the Columbus Methodist Church from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

The benefit is a barbecue, bake sale and blood drive for climbing medical bills for Raines.

All of the blood donations will be credited in Raine’s name to reduce and possibly eliminate the cost associated with his transfusions.

Organizers are asking for donations of baked goods for the sale, which can be dropped off at Food Lion either Friday, Feb. 9 or Saturday, Feb. 10.

Anyone wishing to donate blood can sign up at register 5 at Food Lion or contact organizer Brittany Seay to be assigned a time for the donation.

Raines has been hospitalized for seven weeks.
