1-AA men’s basketball title is calling the Cardinals name

On Friday, the Cardinals topped Christ Church Episcopal, 47-39, at Landrum. Trey Smith scored 25 for the winners, including four three-pointers, and added five assists. Teammate Foster Bridges scored 13, and grabbed seven rebounds. For the Cards, Turner Ussery made four steals.
The Cards improved to 18-4 overall, and 7-1 in the region.
Today, the Cardinals are at Greer Middle College High School. Blacksburg is now 5-3 in the region, after on February 2. On February 6, Blacksburg plays CCE.
For the Cardinals against CCE, “we actually got a hold of the lead, and slowed the game down,” said Landrum head coach Lyn Smith. “We were being very cautious not to surrender the lead, as we ran out the clock.”
Smith added, “Blacksburg lost Friday (February 2), so if we win Tuesday vs. GMC, we win the conference (region).”
Landrum’s regular season ends Thursday, February 8, at Blacksburg.
