I read with interest the Letters to the Editor of January 18 (from Maryneal Jones) and January 21 (a response from Eugene Comiskey).

I’m not one to spout my opinion about politics, but at the risk of prolonging an argument, I feel the need to put in my two cents. First of all, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. Mr. Comiskey’s characterization of those who disagree with him as suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is offensive. 

While Ms. Jones might have been a little more diplomatic, it is a fact, and not fake news, that divisiveness, intolerance and prejudice have become pro forma in the current administration. 

And, Mr. Comiskey, I’m all for a great economy, but even more, I believe in man’s civility to man. I believe everyone deserves respect. Your response to Ms. Jones was uncivil and disrespectful. I think the debasement of our culture is something everyone should be concerned about. Can’t we all just try to get along?
