Tryon Town Manager Zach Ollis told the audience and council during the town’s Jan. 16 meeting if residents’ leaf pick-up is taking longer than usual, there are a number of different reasons, one being the weather. When it rains and freezes, Ollis said the leaves turn into blocks of ice and the machine won’t take them. Ollis said town employees have also been tied up on several water leaks lately.

Tryon commissioner asked why camera hasn’t been installed at plaza

Tryon Commissioner Dr. Crys Armbrust asked during the town’s Jan. 16 meeting why a camera donated to the town has not been placed at the St. Luke’s Plaza yet. Armbrust said he is dismayed that two citizens donated the surveillance camera to the town three years ago and it is still sitting in the back room. One of the donors has since died, Armbrust said. Town manager Zach Ollis said the town is soon placing four cameras at town hall, including in the meeting room and the St. Luke’s Plaza camera is a matter of finding a property owner to allow the town to put it on their building. Ollis said he’d contact one prospective business to see if they would allow it.
