Great Courses returns to TFAC in early 2018

Tryon Fine Arts Center begins the Great Courses series on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 10:30 a.m. The popular series will be held on the second Tuesday of the month from January through April. Each session will last approximately 90 minutes.

Great Courses features a series of DVDs augmented with discussions and local experts. The program will focus on music with a discussion of solo piano works led by Dr. Elizabeth Child.

Child holds a doctorate in performance from the Juilliard School, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree from Converse College. Well-known for her combination of dramatic intensity and intimate communication, Child currently operates a piano studio in Tryon.

Coffee, hot teas, and pastries will be provided at the Great Courses. There is no cost for the series thanks to an anonymous sponsor. Seating is limited to 35 people, so attendees are asked to reserve their place in the series by calling the TFAC Box Office at 828-859-8322 or register online at tryonarts.org.g.
