After the first quarter at Landrum High School, the Cardinal women led Thomas Jefferson by a little bit. Actually, the Cardinals led, 28-3, on the way to a 54-12 decimation of their guests, in a non-conference game.

Sarah King (11 points, including three three-pointers), Sarah Price (nine), Bailey Butler (eight), Ellen Boatwright (seven), and Leslie Hardin (six) led Landrum, as the Cardinals extended their early-season mark to 5-0.

In men’s action Tuesday night, Trey Smith poured in 36 points; Manny Gonzales added 13; and Jadon Lane 12, as the Cardinals (now 3-0) turned back Thomas Jefferson, 80-61, also a non-conference win.

Lane nailed a pair of three pointers, while Smith and Gonzales hit one apiece.

The Cardinals led by just two points after the first quarter, but a 28-12 second quarter put them up, 42-28, at the half.

Landrum hosts Woodruff tonight with women’s varsity starting at 6 p.m., and men’s at 7:30.
