Tryon seeks identity of man passing counterfeit bills at Dollar General

TRYON – The Tryon Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest regarding counterfeit money being passed at the Dollar General store in Tryon.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Nov. 11 at approximately 7 p.m. at the Dollar General, located at 332 S. Trade St.

The man passed $50 and $100 bills that were counterfeit, according to the Tryon Police Department.

The person of interest is described as an approximate 30-year-old, black male, weighing approximately 200 pounds and 6 foot 1 inch tall, according to the police report.

The man was wearing a dark toboggan, a dark jacket, red checkered shirt and blue jeans.

The police department said he was driving a gray Cadillac.
