Just before 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, Tryon Police Department, Polk County EMS, Tryon Fire Department and Highway Patrol were dispatched to the White Oak Apartments on E. Howard Street in Tryon for a vehicle accident involving the driver and one passenger. Police Chief Arrowood said the driver thought she was hitting the brake to park and accidentally hit the accelerator instead causing her to crash into the apartments. No injuries were reported to the driver or passenger. Harrison Cecil, administrator, and Rita Motter, apartment director, both said that the apartment was vacant and under renovation at the time of the accident. (Submitted by Magan Etheridge)
