Landrum’s defense played nearly flawlessly, holding host (and defending region champion) Blacksburg (now 4-0 in the region) to a mere 14 points. Though the Cardinals’ offense played well, Landrum could not score, and fell, 14-0, in the last game of the regular varsity football season.
The Cardinals ended the regular season at 1-9, and 0-4 in the region. Blacksburg’s Wildcats are 4-0 in region play, and 5-5 overall.
“We had a great defensive performance,” observed Landrum head coach Jason Farmer. The offense played well, too, but we couldn’t find the scoreboard,” Farmer continued, noting that the Cardinals moved inside the red zone (within the opposition 20-yard line) three times.
“(Linebacker) Marcus Quinn had a great game,” Farmer added. “(Linebacker) Easton Jenkins played well, too. We had a great effort from all our kids,” remarked Farmer, who noted that the Cardinals will concentrate on the 2018 season.
