During the month of August, the Columbus Police Department answered 601 calls for service.

There were eight arrests, including three felony arrests, three misdemeanor arrests and two driving while impaired arrests.

There was a total of 174 charges, including 85 speeding citations, seven no operator’s license, four driving while license revoked, three drug charges, three uninsured motorists, five careless and reckless driving, 13 registration violations and two open containers.

Officers completed 8,111 premise checks, including 130 residence checks, 7,806 business checks and 175 church checks.

The department assisted other departments 11 times, did 500 community patrols and completed 72 hours of training.
