POLK COUNTY – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office sent out a community awareness alert on Monday, Sept. 25 warning the area of larcenies from maintenance sheds.
The sheriff’s office is investigating two separate incidents of items being stolen from maintenance sheds in Greek Creek and Mill Spring.
Numerous tools, leaf blowers, chain saws, lawn mowers and other lawn maintenance items have been included in the larcenies, according to sheriff reports.
“The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking for owners to be vigilant and check their maintenance sheds to ensure no items have been taken,” states the sheriff’s office press release. “If owners have missing items please contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office to file a report.”
The sheriff’s office also advises the public to keep serial numbers or apply owner identification marks on their equipment and tools. That way, if items are stolen, it will make the investigation and recovery of the items easier.
To report any stolen items, call the sheriff’s office at 828-894-3001.
