Outreach welcomes new board members

Peter Franklin and Susan McHugh recently joined the board of directors at Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry.
Peter enjoyed a 25 year career with The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta and held various positions including group director, Worldwide Sports; director, Olympic Games Management and business affairs counsel. Peter served on The International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland from 2000 – 2016 and was a member of the Special Olympics of Georgia’s Board of Directors. He’s currently very active in his church, Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Tryon, serving as treasurer and lay volunteer coordinator.
Susan held a 30-year career in education, the majority spent in Polk County and former Tryon City School Systems. She was a classroom teacher, director of Special Education Services, assistant and associate superintendents for Curriculum and Instruction and from 1994 – 2004 served as superintendent of Polk County Schools. Susan has been involved in numerous community boards and organizations, including organist and choir director for First Baptist Church, Tryon; former member of the Rotary Club of Tryon; served on the St. Luke’s Hospital Board of Trustees for nine years and currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors for the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation.
Outreach is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has served Polk County residents for 25 years. The organization’s mission is to provide compassionate assistance to Polk County residents who are unable to provide for their basic life needs.
