Jack Malcomb Campbell

Jack Malcomb Campbell died peacefully at the Smith-Phayer Hospice house on August 23, 2017 in Landrum, S.C. at the age of 74.
Jack is survived by his wife Linda of Columbus, N.C.; son Mark Campbell of Columbus, N.C.; daughter Heather (Campbell) Smith, husband Lance Smith, Monticello, Wisc.; grandchildren Tiffany Campbell, Tyler Campbell, Isaac Smith and Ezekiel Smith; brothers Roy Campbell, wife Lynn, Castleberry, Fla., Gary Campbell wife Glenda, Soperton Ga.; sisters Janet Haynes of Sunny View, Linda Stoll and husband Charles of Columbus, N.C. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Nigel “Chubb” Campbell, and mother, Eleanor, of Florida.
Jack was born on May 4, 1943 in Derry, New Hampshire. He married Linda Dearborn, his sweetheart, November 20, 1965. After moving to Central Florida, Jack built a floor covering business. Visiting the Thermal Belt while moving good friends, Jack fell in love with the area and relocated to the Columbus/Tryon area. Jack and his wife Linda were owner/operators of Mimosa Flooring.
Jack was an active member of the Congregational Church of Tryon, Tryon Kiwanis, and Foothills Crime Stoppers. Jack served the Boy Scouts of America as an executive officer, as well as Scoutmaster for Troop 150 for many years. Jack and Linda hosted many foster children and were active members of the community.
A life celebration for Jack will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 28 at the Congregational Church, 210 Melrose Ave., Tryon, N.C. with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jack’s life.
