Campers are invited to FENCE for a night of camping on Saturday, June 24 beginning at 4 p.m.
FENCE is hosting a Great American Backyard Campout, an event for families with elementary and middle school-aged children to experience the fun of camping without the expense of buying the equipment.
Enjoy a night of supervised camping on FENCE property. FENCE will provide the tents, dinner and activities throughout the night. Activities include how to set up a tent, an introduction to orienteering, how to cook campfire foods, an astronomy program and a presentation on Leave No Trace principles.
Participants should bring their own snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, breakfast for Sunday morning, and their own sleeping bags or blankets.
The campout is free, but registration is required. Call 828-859-9021 to register. Registration closes Thursday, June 22. There is a limit of six families, and children must be supervised. No camping experience is necessary. Don’t miss a great opportunity to try camping without the expense involved.
