Joy Hillegas Johnson, 77, of Columbus, N.C., died Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, N.C.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Josephine Hitchings Hillegas. Joy was an accomplished educator, librarian, and photographer. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Norman Johnson; sons, Douglas, Jonathan, and Joseph; daughter in laws, Willa, Tracy, and Jeni. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kubi, Matthew, Noemi, Brian, and Bree.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m., All Saints Anglican Church, Mills River, N.C. (828-891-7216).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints Anglican Church.
