Polk County Public Library seeks an enthusiastic teen intern who is interested in working with children. This is a temporary, part-time position for 20 hours a week for eight weeks (June 12-August 4). This internship is made possible by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.
The library is looking for an intern who enjoys working with and helping people of all ages. The ideal candidate will be energetic, organized, detail-oriented, friendly, and a team player who can also work well independently.
The teen summer intern will help library staff present a fun and exciting Summer Reading Program. Duties include preparing summer reading packets, registering kids and teens for the program, and attending special events such as the Mutt Strut 5K and Wrap-Up Pool Party. The intern will also get a taste of everyday life at the library by shelving books, shelf reading, working on collections projects, and creating displays.
Applicants must be 16 years or older, continuing their high school education next year, live in Polk County or Landrum, and have a flexible schedule and reliable transportation to the Columbus Library.
This is a paid internship. The application and job description are available at the library or online at polklibrary.org. For priority consideration, submit an application by Friday, May 12 in person at the library or by email to jdickenson@polklibrary.org.
