A rare full roster and an Avery County team that has struggled this season offered Polk County a welcome easy night Wednesday.

In the midst of a stretch of three games in three days, the Wolverines easily won the second of the trio, cruising to a 6-0 win over the Vikings in a Western Highlands Conference match in G.M. Tennant Stadium.

With no junior varsity contest slated, Polk County head coach Lennox Charles added his JV players to the Wolverine bench. All saw action as Polk focused much of its attention on honing its passing game and getting everyone on the field.

The Wolverines (10-4, 6-2) received two goals each from Reese Alley and Cameron Capozzi in the win. Alley scored in the first minute and again in the second half while Capozzi tallied twice in the first half, helping Polk to a 4-0 halftime lead.

Hannah Henderson and Ashton Capozzi scored the Wolverines’ other goals, Capozzi capping the scoring with a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.

Avery dropped to 1-12 overall, 1-8 in conference play with the loss.

Polk County wraps up its pre-spring break schedule on Thursday, hosting Mountain Heritage in another WHC matchup.
