Owen hits for cycle as Polk County thumps Mountain Heritage

- Polk County junior Autumn Owen hit for the cycle in Monday's win at Mountain Heritage.
Autumn Owen hit for the cycle and Ashley Scruggs fired a two-hitter Monday as Polk County earned an 8-1 win over Mountain Heritage in a Western Highlands Conference softball clash in Burnsville.
Owen singled, doubled, tripled and homered to pace Polk County’s nine-hit attack as the Wolverines improved to 5-5 overall, 4-3 in WHC play.
Scruggs struck out seven in picking up the victory.
Haley Fowler finished 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBI for Polk County, with Morgan Stott going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ashley Ponder, Anna McFadden and Hannah Emory had the remaining hits for the Wolverines.
Polk County also earned a 9-7 victory in junior varsity play.
Polk County hosts Mitchell on Tuesday in another WHC matchup.
