Art censorship in Tryon?

I recently found out that a toboggan named “Pussy Cat Hat” was removed from a downtown window display. The nice mannequin display by Tryon Arts and Crafts School was representing Tie-One-On. I find it astonishing that a town like Tryon would allow a piece of art to be censored! Art is meant to be a free thinking world! If someone had an issue with it that does not automatically dictate its merit. Only a fool would think that. Some of the greatest art in history evokes emotions. Good or bad. Duh!
There are supporters for this hat. Why did their opinion not matter? The hat appeared to be a take on the political Pussy Hats that were worn in this year’s Women’s March. Such an image reflects our time in our region, too! No one should have the authority to censor another artist’s viewpoint or the feelings of others.
Tryon is supposed to be a town that embraces the arts. ALL ART. Keep it that way. I am surprised there wasn’t a story written about this. It is important to know what is being controlled out of sight.
