Cardinals buried Eastside

The hits just kept on coming,Thursday (March 9) evening at Landrum, where the Cardinals buried visiting Eastside, 30-2 (mercy rule, after four and one-half innings. Here, Landrum’s Emily Carter crosses the plate with one of the Cardinals’ later runs. In the first inning, Carter smashed a solo home run. Freshman pitcher Alexus Atkins went three scoreless innings for the win. Alexia Lindsey came on in relief. Of her Cardinal team, head coach Casey Ssmith noted, “They’re a solid hitting team.” On Wednesday(March 8), the Cardinals defeated cross-state rival Polk County, 6-1. Upcoming Cardinal games include March 14 at Berea (Greenville), and at home March 16, vs. Polk County. After topping Eastside, the Cardinals were 2-0 overall. (photo by Mark Schmerling)
