Crossing the plate nearly every way possible except by the long ball, Landrum buried visiting Greenville Technical Charter High School, 15-0, in varsity baseball on Monday, Feb. 27.
The game was ended, mercifully, for the Warriors after four innings. Landrum, considered the visiting team, batted last, winning by the ten-run rule.
Trey Smith leaped from the basketball court to the pitcher’s mound, where he held off the Warriors for three innings, before being replaced.
Whether by sacrifice fly, base stealing, advancing on ground balls, other infield outs, or wild pitches, Cardinal base runners—and they were legion—were always ready to move up at least one base.
“One thing we take pride in,” said head coach Daniel Little, “is being a good base running team.”
The win moved the Cardinals to 2-0, before Tuesday’s game against visiting Whitmire.
The Cardinals are set to host another game on Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m.
