The City of Saluda played host to two residents of Carunchio, Italy last week to explore American culture as part of the effort to join Carunchio and Saluda together as sister cities. Chef Dino Paganelli, left, and Massimo Criscio, right, arrived in the U.S. in late January on a three-week trip that brought them from Naples, Fla. through Georgia and South Carolina to Saluda, where Paganelli and Criscio stayed in the city and held an Italian dinner for guests on Friday, Feb. 17 in addition to a sausage making party at Thompson’s Store in downtown Saluda on Saturday, Feb. 18. Paganelli and Criscio conduct cooking tours in Carunchio through their Abruzzo Cibus cooking school. The full story on Criscio, Paganelli and Saluda becoming sister cities with Carunchio will be published in the April Life in Our Foothills magazine. (Photo by Michael O’Hearn)
