In spite of scoring just 42 points against an aggressive St. Joseph’s Catholic team, Landrum’s vaunted defense held the visiting Knights to just 26, as the Cardinals advanced their season record to 17-2, and their region mark to 7-1, on Tuesday, Jan. 31. “We’re going to the region,” remarked Cardinal head coach Deon Brice, “but I’m trying to get them ready for the playoffs.” This scene provides a snippet of the fierce, but controlled, defense the Cardinals employed. St. Joseph’s Brittany Morris (#4) has the ball, but Landrum’s Lindsey Hardin (#3 at left) and Ellen Boatwright (#24, right), are doing everything they can to change that. Hardin led all scorers with 18, while Boatwright added eight. On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Cardinals were at Polk County for a cross-state rivalry matchup. On Friday, Feb. 3, they visit Christ Church Episcopal. (photo by Mark Schmerling)
