Mary Ellen Shehan

Mary Ellen McAbee Shehan, 72, of Columbus, N.C. passed away, Sunday morning, January 15, 2017 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House, Landrum, S.C. following a period of declining health.

A native of Polk County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Hick and Alcie O’Sullivan McAbee and widow of Donald Shehan who died in 1980. During her working career, Mrs. Shehan worked for the Label Mill in Columbus, N.C.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Craig McAbee.

Surviving are two sons, Ricky Shehan of Tryon, N.C. and Ronnie Shehan (Sarah) of Columbus, N.C.; one grandson, Donald Cole Shehan of Columbus, N.C.; four brothers, Richard McAbee, Ed McAbee, Bud McAbee and Bobby McAbee, all of Mill Spring, N.C.; two sisters, Racheal Wilson of Green Creek, N.C. and Libby McAbee of Albemarle, N.C.

A private family service will be held.
