Are You Ok? system valuable for elderly, homebound, latch key kids
Both the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Landrum Police Department offer an automated telephone phone system that calls residents on a daily basis at a time specified by the user.
The recipient of the call presses a specific button to acknowledge receipt of the call. If there is no answer or the recipient fails to properly acknowledge the call, an alert is sent, and an officer is dispatched to the residence to check on the recipient of the call.
To sign up for the program in Polk County, contact Kim Pack at 828-894-3001 or visit www.polkncsheriff.com/r-u-ok/ to register online.
Landrum residents can contact the Landrum Police Department at 864-457-7281 or Landrum City Hall at 864-457-3000, or visit cityoflandrumsc.com/police-dept/ to download an application and bring it to the police department at 100 N. Shamrock Ave., Landrum.
