The Polk County Rescue Squad was selected as the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to receive gifts of money donated by the residents of White Oak Village of Tryon and matched by the White Oak Management Inc. of Spartanburg, S.C. When picking up the money, Robbie Price, training officer with the rescue squad said the money was much needed for protective gear. The devastating wildfires in our mountains this fall and the routine service they provide Polk County residents has made it necessary for new equipment. White Oak donated $2,804 to the rescue squad and presented a check on Friday, Jan. 6.
