MILL SPRING– “Warming The View” will distribute coats and blankets to the community on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Polk County Ag Center in Mill Spring.
The community event will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with Java Up serving coffee and the Ag Center hosting holiday vendors.
Warming The View began two years ago as a grassroots effort to help friends and neighbors living in Sunny View stay warm during the cold winter season.
The first distribution of coats and blankets was held on Dec. 3 at McGuinn’s store in Sunny View.
Warming The View organizers Dee O’Brien and Lisa Moser say they are overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of everyone who has re-purposed their gently used coats and blankets.
Leftover coats and blankets will be sent to Tennessee for fire victims and Warming The View also received enough funding this year to purchase 122 new coats for all four Polk County elementary schools.
Warming The View expanded this year to include collecting and distributing coats and blankets throughout Polk County with several events held.
