Four members of the Landrum High School powerlifting team competed in the I.P.L. World Championships held in Las Vegas on Nov. 10-16. The girls are all coached by Chad Cooksey, strength and conditioning coach at LHS.

The competitors walked away as four Junior World Champions, one Silver Medalist, and one Open World Champion. The girls set three American records, 12 state records, and one world record in deadlift was set by Hope Edwards.

The competitors and their families would like to thank businesses from the Landrum and Polk County communities who made donations, and everyone in the area who contributed to fundraising efforts by making donations, buying hot dogs and baked goods, and purchasing Yankee Candles.
