The Polk County School Board recognized teachers from six schools in the district for the 2016-2017 school year at their Nov. 7 board meeting. Sarah Bennett from Polk Central, John Ezell from Polk County High School, Dianne Holt from Polk County Middle School, Jeannie Solomon from Saluda Elementary, Shelley Upton from Sunny View Elementary and Jessica Wilkins from Tryon Elementary were honored with plaques for their achievements. Ezell was also named District Teacher of the Year. Saluda Elementary students sang the Saluda School song following the presentation of awards. Saluda Elementary was one of three schools to be recognized for the National Title I Distinguished Schools Award in high performance and high progress for two or more consecutive years along with Tryon Elementary and Polk Central Elementary.
