Marilyn Clarkson

Marilyn Clarkson passed away on Oct. 18, 2016 at Tryon Estates in Columbus, N.C. where she resided since 2004. She was 89 years old. Her husband, Jack, passed away in 2012 leaving Marilyn in the company and care of many friends and a compassionate, loving staff at Tryon Estates.
She is survived by two sons, Tom of Charlottesville, Va. and Bob (and wife Linda) of Syracuse, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her brother Rich of Erwin, Pa. Marilyn was born in Trafford, Pa. and grew up in the Pittsburg area. She became a registered nurse before meeting Jack to begin their 65 years of shared life. Although they spent most of their years raising a family and working in the Northeast, Marilyn and Jack were stationed in Germany while Jack was enlisted in the Air Force as a pilot.
Before moving to Tryon Estates, they also enjoyed many years of retirement on Seabrook Island, S.C. where family frequently visited for vacations and holidays. Marilyn loved golf, bridge and line dancing. She was very active in the Tryon Estates community as a volunteer and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Marilyn and Jack were also members of the Tryon Congregational Church – UCC.
Marilyn was thankful to have so many good friends at Tryon Estates. Residents and staff alike were her extended family. Tryon Estates was truly home for Marilyn in her twilight years. The family expresses its heartfelt thanks to all who helped Marilyn on the journey to her final home, one of everlasting peace, comfort and joy.
