Cardinals host Pendleton tonight in football

This evening at 7:30 is the time, and Cardinal Stadium is the place, for Landrum’s last regular-season varsity football game of 2016, as the Cardinals host the Pendleton Bulldogs.
This game, originally set for Oct. 21, but moved back to this evening, features two 4-5 teams, each 2-2 in their respective (and separate) regions.
Last week, in a defensive gem, Landrum did what winning teams do. They made fewer mistakes than Blacksburg, and capitalized on the Wildcats’ miscues, and defeated Blacksburg, 17-14.
How can the Cardinals make it two wins in a row?
“Our goal is to keep our momentum (from last week’s win),” acknowledged Landrum head coach Jason Farmer. “Our kids played really well.”
Other than noting that the Bulldogs are well coached, and play in a tough region (two points that one can also make about Landrum), Farmer noted that Pendleton’s Brad Johnson (#5, a 6-foot 3-inch, 230-pound defensive end and fullback) “is a really good player.” Johnson, Farmer noted, has already received at least 15 college offers.
At least part of Landrum’s success will involve keeping Johnson from breaking the game open. Judging from recent outings, the Cardinals’ defense is up to the task.
“It’s going to be another good football game,” Farmer predicted.
