COLUMBUS – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested an Asheville man for arson of a home as well as taking indecent liberties with a child.
On Sept. 22, the sheriff’s office responded to a structure fire at 411 Hugh Champion Rd. in Polk County.
After an investigation, the sheriff’s office determined the fire had been intentionally set during a domestic dispute, according to sheriff reports.
Ascencion Ramirez Jr., 34, of 25 Karen’s Place, Asheville, was initially arrested and charged with two counts of assault on a female, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, domestic criminal trespass and second-degree arson, according to sheriff reports.
Pursuant to another investigation, Ramirez was later charged on Oct. 5 with three counts of indecent liberties with a child, according to sheriff reports.
Ramirez was given an $80,000 bond by a Polk County magistrate last week.
