Claude S. Turner, Jr.

The Rev. Claude Sylvester Turner, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 after an extended illness. A native of Martinsville, Va., Mr. Turner was the son of Claude S. and Amy Lucile (Clanton) Turner, Sr. He was married to the Rev. Mollie (Douglas) Turner.

A graduate of Georgia Tech, he was a veteran of the Navy, and for many years he served as an Episcopal priest in the diocese of Southern Virginia. Besides his wife, Mr. Turner leaves behind a son, George Turner; a daughter, Lee Richards (Russell); and a sister, Mary Ann Dee. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice (Leelee) Tucker.

A Memorial Service will be on Sunday, October 16 at 3 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross located at 150 Melrose Ave., Tryon, N.C. Interment will take place at a later date in Virginia.
