Polk County’s cross country teams made their annual run up White Oak Mountain on Monday, tackling the grueling three-mile climb to the summit. It’s a rite of passage for the team, a tradition dating back almost 30 years. Those who reach the top and run the entire trip will be recognized at a team dinner later this month. The Wolverines are slated to compete Saturday at the Trailblazer Invitational in Gray, Tenn. before competing in the Western Highlands Conference championship meet on Oct. 20 at Montreat College.
