Landrum head tennis coach D.J.Brown’s team is gaining valuable on-the-court experience this season, and are steadily improving. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Cardinals’ number four player, Mallory McCarter (shown here), teamed up with the team’s number one, Elizabeth Parker, to take on their doubles opponents from Spartanburg Christian Academy. In singles play on Tuesday, McCarter won her first set, 6-2, lost the second, also by 6-2, and fell in an extended tie-breaker, 9-7. On Friday, Sept. 16, McCarter was named Landrum’s Homecoming Queen. Results were not available from recent matches against Woodruff, SCA and St. Joseph’s (played at Landrum on Sept. 22). Next meet is at home Sept. 26 against Broome. On Sept. 28, the Cardinals visit Chapman.
