In their first four games of the season West-Oak’s Warriors have yielded 198 points, and bring an 0-4 record into this evening’s non-conference football game at Landrum.
However, head coach Jason Farmer, whose Cardinals (1-2) earned their first win of the season, an overtime victory over rival Polk County, is not ready to put Landrum at 2-2, yet.
“Any game can be different,” Farmer cautioned. “We’ve got to be ready to play. I’m really proud of the kids’ effort. This week we’ve practiced pretty well.”
Of the Cardinals’ 17-14 win last week, and his first of the season, “It’s always good to win. I understand the rivalry aspect. Both teams played hard last Friday night.”
West-Oak, while looking for its first win of 2016, is “big up front, on both sides of the ball,” Farmer observed. The smaller Cardinals hope to use speed, power and coaching to outscore the visitors.
Opening kickoff is set for 7:30. Tonight is also Landrum’s Homecoming.
