West Henderson junior Tyson Hichman gave Polk County a demonstration Thursday as to why he’s already received a handful of Division I scholarship offers.

Hichman scored three goals in the second half, leading the Falcons back from a 2-1 halftime deficit en route to a 6-2 win over Polk County in a non-conference boys soccer match at Polk.

The Wolverines (2-5-1) trailed 1-0 early in the match, but goals by Salvador Chavez and Luis Hernandez six minutes apart late in the half lifted Polk to a one-goal lead at the break.

But that’s when Hichman took over. The junior scored less than two minutes into the half, then followed a pair of goals by Thomas Jones with two more of his own, the last a left-footed laser from the top of the penalty area.

Polk County goalkeeper Wilson Edwards finished with 15 saves in the match as West Henderson (4-3-1) outshot Polk County 21-6.

Polk County opens its Western Highlands Conference schedule on Monday, traveling to Mountain Heritage.
