COLUMBUS – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has two women in custody

after discovering large amounts of opiates and benzodiazepine tablets in their vehicle. 

Alice Darlene Swihart, 48, of 326 Peach Blossom Ct., Johnson City, Tenn. was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking opiates and conspiracy to traffic opiates, according to sheriff office reports.

Kathy Lynn Walker, 55, of 1504 Colony Park Dr., Johnson City, Tenn. was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking opiates and conspiracy to traffic opiates, according to sheriff reports.

area on Aug. 30. When the officers observed the vehicle make an erratic movement, the officers conducted a vehicle stop, according to sheriff reports.

Once pulled over, officers said they observed behavior from the individuals that caused them to investigate further. A search of the vehicle revealed 101 opiate tablets and 45 benzodiazepine tablets, according to sheriff reports.

As Wednesday, Aug. 31, Swihart and Walker were still being held in Polk County custody under $250,000 secured bonds each.
