Polk County wrapped up its preseason schedule on Friday, dropping a 6-0 two-quarter decision to Burns during the Cleveland County Jamboree at Crest High School.

The Bulldogs made an early special teams touchdown stand, stopping a late Wolverine drive deep in Burns territory. Polk County drove to the Bulldog 4 in the final minute, but Dillon Overholt’s pass into the end zone intended for Dillion Knighton was broken up, giving Burns the win.

Burns failed to generate much offense against the Polk County defense, punting on its first three possessions and time running out during its fourth. But the Bulldogs scored on a 65-yard punt return by Kujaun Pryor for the game’s lone tally.

Polk County punted on two of its four possessions, but nearly scored on its first, just missing a connection on a deep fourth-down pass.

On their final drive, the Wolverines got a 49-yard pass from Overholt to Josh Chupp to move into Burns territory at the 31, then pushed into the red zone before the final pass attempt was stopped.

Polk County returns to action on Friday in its regular-season opener, traveling to Chase for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
