Downtown Tryon and St. Luke’s Plaza welcomed what was estimated to be thousands of people for the “Pokemon A-Go-Go” lure drop event Saturday morning, Aug. 6. Players came from as far as Greenville, S.C. to participate in the event and play Pokemon Go, the “augmented reality” app created by San Francisco-based Niantic that allows users to catch up to 142 U.S. Pokemon characters, train them and battle rival gyms to become the best Pokemon trainer. The event was held and organized by the Town of Tryon’s Tourism Department and included themed food and live music. More photos are on the Bulletin’s Facebook page. (Photos by Michael O’Hearn)
