Charles L. Greene

Charles Larry Greene, 77, of Mill Spring, N.C. passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2016 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, S.C.
A native of Polk County, N.C., he was the son of the late Claude and Beulah Blanton Greene. Mr. Greene owned and operated G & G Locksmith from 1990 to 2014. He raced with NASCAR when it first started on short tracks and then RC Racing. Mr. Greene was a member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Jo Greene, Jerry Greene and Donald Greene; two sisters, Virginia Greenway and Brenda Melton.
Surviving is his wife of 24 years, Carolyn Newman Greene; one son, Michael Greene (Dianne) of Columbus, N.C.; two daughters, Judy Hefner (Gary) of Spartanburg, S.C. and Tammy Rainey (Dustin) of Landrum, S.C.; one sister, Pat Plumley of Gowensville, S.C.; one brother, Donny Greene (Jean) Mill Spring, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Brian Hefner, Stacy Hefner Owens (Bo), Carrie Greene Donohue (Grayson), Jamie Greene, Rebekka Galvin, Ally Page and Garrett Rainey; five great-grandchildren, Brendan, Hannah, Mason, Benjamin and Samuel.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 in Mill Spring First Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. with Rev. Bryan Melton and Rev. David Bame officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
