Weather prompts cancellations of area events, school closings

The Friendship Council’s Martin Luther King celebration originally scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. Saluda Train Tales, featuring Gerald Ledford, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 22, has been cancelled due to weather and has been rescheduled for Friday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Depot.
Tryon Fine Arts Center is postponing the reception for their upcoming exhibit, Preserving African American Art in the Foothills, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 22, and rescheduled it for Thursday, Jan. 28 from 5-7 p.m. The dates of the exhibit remain the same.
Polk County Schools hopes to have a determination made about school on Friday made by late this afternoon and will make the call to parents by 7 p.m. Thursday.
