Gertrude Ohlschmidt Hipple

Gertrude Ohlschmidt Hipple, 91, of Tryon, N.C. entered eternal life on Nov. 24, 2015. She is predeceased by her parents Baptist and Margaret Ohlschmidt of Nurnberg, Germany, sister Elisabeth O. Hertlein, nephew George Peter Hertlein, husband, Master Sergeant William Byron Hipple and infant son Walter William Hipple.
She is survived by a nephew Johann Gunter Hertlein of Germany, cousins, Edith S. Larsen of Tryon, N.C., Richard G. Stern of New Jersey, Bruce R. Larsen (Suzanne and son Samuel) of Marietta, Ga., Caron L. Tucker (Tom and children Elizabeth and Austin) of Bradfordsville, Ky., great nieces Mary Helfrich (Loring and children, Reid, Hannah and Loring III) of Nashville, Tenn., and Kate McKee (Todd and children, John, Mason and Tully) of Nashville, Tenn.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Blades Garden Club of Tryon. She was a retired professional dressmaker and seamstress of Washington, D.C.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tryon, N.C. on Dec. 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. There will be a bereavement reception at 3 p.m. at White Oak Village, 70 Oak Street, Tryon, N.C.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722 Attn: Diane Nelson, or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 180 Laurel Ave, Tryon, NC 28782.
Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
