Bikers roll out Saturday with a Christmas purpose

When all 450 bikes revved up in Saluda Saturday afternoon to begin the annual Toy Run, it was too loud to hear anything over the loud pipes. With unusually warm weather, the 620 bikers, with toys strapped to the front and/or back of their bikes, rode from Saluda to Tryon and Landrum, eventually ending up at the courthouse steps in Columbus where they delivered a colorful array of Christmas toys. The toys, from games and stuffed animals, to dolls, trucks and art supplies, will be distributed to underprivileged children in Polk County.
