Warming the View effort in Sunny View to bring coats, blankets to those in need

 

 

“Warming The View” is a community event that started last year as a grassroots effort to help friends and neighbors living in Sunny View stay warm during the cold winter season. Dee O’Brien and Lisa Moser, along with the generosity of the community, collected and distributed over 100 coats and blankets last year.

 

This year, Warming The View is partnering with Sunny View Elementary in an effort to not only collect, but put a coat and warm blanket in any child’s hand who needs one. O’Brien used a simple illustration of a glass mason jar and asked the students how many different ways the jar could be used. She then explained that’s how we “recycle” or “re-purpose” our coats. A very excited student totally “got it”!

 

So if your coat doesn’t fit, give it to your neighbor… purely and simply stated!

 

Pure Country Weavers, located in Lynn, N.C. will once again be donating new blankets to help this community effort. Moser shared, “We are very humbled by the generosity from everyone. Our message is simple, Community helping Community. We are truly overwhelmed by the love and support from our neighbors and community at large.”

 

Warming The View does not want to leave anyone out in the cold, therefore the drop off date will be extended through the actual day of the community event. Distribution for Sunny View Elementary will be Friday, Dec. 4 and a community event will be held at McGuinn’s Store on Hwy. 9 in Sunny View on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. PCHS civic students will be volunteering and McGuinn’s will provide a free hotdog lunch, along with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Please consider donating a gently used or new coat/blanket and join the fun as we help keep our neighbors warm this winter.
