William Puterbaugh Jr.

William “Bill” Harlan Puterbaugh Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015. He was the son of the late William Harlan and Catherine A. Womer Puterbaugh and partner of Lorene Weaver.

He was a member of Tryon Presbyterian Church, and the Elk Lodge in Sebring, Fla. His hobbies included playing bridge, skiing, hiking, and playing golf at The Links. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1948 and taught at Sterling Junior High, in Illinois. He then moved to Westport, Conn. to teach at Bedford Junior High. His teaching career spanned more than 40 ears. He served as a Special Officer and EMT in Westport for several years.

He was survived by three sons, William R. Puterbaugh (Kathy), Richard H. Puterbaugh (Kathy), and Stephen L. Puterbaugh (Claire); one daughter, Janis A. Breeding (Carl); one brother, Roger Puterbaugh; one sister, Jane Kanicki; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald R. Puterbaugh.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Tryon Presbyterian Church, Tryon, N.C. officiated by Dr. Dent C. Davis III.
